Who Qualifies for a Houston County Habitat for Humanity House
- Currently living in
substandard housing, i.e:
- Mold, deteriorating walls and
floors, ill-fitting doors and windows, leaking roof and walls,
un-repairable plumbing, no heat
- Overcrowded; everyone should sleep
in a bedroom; school age children of opposite sex should sleep in
separate bedrooms
- Families are considered cost
burdened if they pay more than 30% of income for housing;
rent/mortgage, taxes, insurance, and utilities -- other than phone
- Resident of Houston
County for one year and American citizen or permanent US resident
- Current Income in
the window of service; 30% to 60% of Houston County Median Income,
adjusted for family size
