Age Restrictions for
Habitat for Humanity worksite participation
- CHILDREN UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
- Individuals who are 14, or 15 years of age are not allowed on the
construction site when the house is under construction. However, children
who are 14, or 15 may be allowed on the construction site to do
non-construction work (including painting and landscaping) but only when no
construction work is going on.
- Children ages 16 and 17 can do general construction but cannot do
excavation, demolition, use power tools or work at heights above 6 feet or
do roofing. They can do general carpentry.
- Anyone 18 or over may do any of the various construction related jobs on
the work site.
Seniors make up a large component of the Habitat work force. However, we
have been cautioned by our legal department to be especially careful with
seniors as their upper body strength, balance and hearing may not be as good
as they once were. It is very important not to allow seniors to overextend
themselves by trying to take on more than they may be capable of. It is very
important that we comply with our policy regarding age restrictions on the
worksite. |
